The modern
challenges of farming change each day, New rules and regulations from
domestic and European governing bodies place a huge strain on a farmer
trying to make a living.
Ken Ford
and his brother Colin understand the modern face of farming and had a
design brief that sounded impossible, but with their innovative
approach combined with traditional farming techniques that they
themselves have practiced have succeeded in creating a mobile poultry
house that is.... |
-
Fully
Automated
-
Completely self-contained
-
Automatic

Automation is the key to success. The internal
house functions are completely automatic. The chickens are fed and
watered, the unit is lit, the nest boxes are controlled electronically
and the egg belt delivery system is powered for easy operation. |
|
The
lighting is designed to simulate a sunrise and sunset using a 17
minute automated lighting routine, This ensures the birds are held in
a friendly and relaxed environment to maintain optimum egg production.
With the
birds comfort in mind Ken and Colin have a
patented airflow system designed to draw stale air out using the wind
or breeze outside. There is no additional fans or conditioning systems
that may alarm the birds and make them distressed in any way. |

The Walls
and roof are made of composite panels with over essential insulation
properties. They are weatherproof and can be easily cleaned. The
Panels are available in a range of colours to suit both your
surroundings and taste. |
Farms are
abundant with natural energy and our house makes full use this .The
roof has solar panels mounted on it to capture the suns energy and use
within the house.
There is also a wind turbine which will function day and night to
ensure 24 hour operability
Both forms of energy are stored automatically in batteries. If mother
nature lets you down and there is no sun or wind then there will still
be plenty of power stored in the batteries and maintained with the
emergency generator system. |
 |
|
To make the
whole thing movable, a standard tractor and rear mounted winch is
used. There is no need to dismantle the house as it is constructed on
skids which allow the house to glide over the land leaving the manure
and litter behind. |
The front
of the building has an egg packing room where the eggs are collected
on a conveyor belt. It is a completely automatic process so all that
needs to be done is to put the eggs in the cartons.
It is in the egg packing room that you will find the controls and
batteries that are kept charged by the wind turbine and solar power
unit. The conditions to work in the egg packing room are fully
compliant with employment legislation. |

The mobile
poultry house is designed for 3000 birds, But, variants of the design
to accommodate lesser numbers for organic production for instance or
to cater for particular "house sized" ventures can be consider and
quoted for. |
