DEFRA , UK -
Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs
Working
towards the welfare of both chickens and our environment is an
important aspect of modern farming and there are an enormous number of
guidelines set down by DEFRA.
Our Mobile
Poultry House fully complies with these guidelines and has total
backing from DEFRA.
To Give you
more of an understanding of these issues we have included a 24 page
document from DEFRA which explains fully welfare of hens in free
range systems

Below is a
copy of the DEFRA Aims & Objectives
Defra works for the
essentials of life - food, air, land, water, people, animals and
plants
DEFRA's
objectives were reviewed at the end of July 2002 to bring them closer
to the specific targets set out in our
Public Service Agreement (PSA).
Like all
Government Departments, our Public Service Agreement reflects what we
are expected to achieve with the money we were allocated in the July
2002 Spending Review. You can view other Departments' Public Service
Agreements on HM Treasury's
website.
The
Department's aim has not changed but its objectives are now shorter.
However, their scope, and therefore the Department's work, has not
changed. Although the objectives can still stand alone, they should be
read with the PSA targets that underpin them.
The
original aim and objectives, which the new ones remain very close to,
were developed following consultation with stakeholders on their
views. (For a summary of responses to the consultation click
here).
